All legislative power of the municipality under the North Canton City Charter, together with all such powers conferred upon municipalities by the Constitution and laws of the State of Ohio, are vested in the Council.

The North Canton City Council is composed of seven members. One member is elected from each of the four wards and three members are elected by the electors of the municipality at large.

A President and Vice President of Council are elected by a majority vote from among all of its' members. The President and Vice President, by virtue of holding such offices, shall not be deprived of their powers and rights, or be relieved of any of their duties or obligations as members of Council.

The President of Council presides at all North Canton City Council meetings.The term of a councilman is two years, beginning December 1 next following the election and is a part time position.

Council meets as a Committee of the Whole (work sessions) on the first and third Monday of each month with the exception of July and August when Council meets on the first Monday of July and the third Monday in August.

Regular North Canton City Council meetings are on the second and fourth Monday of each month with the exception of July and August when Council meets on the second Monday in July and the fourth Monday in August.

All North Canton City Council meetings are open to the public, with the exception of Executive Sessions of Council held in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code. All meetings are held in the Council Chamber at North Canton City Hall at 7:00 P.M.
