The City of North Canton is beginning 2005 with an innovative multi-media compaign to promote itself and its assets to prospective businesses and home buyers.
The campaign is a result of the "Imagine North Canton" Economic Development Summit hosted by Walsh University. During the Economic Summit a number of committees were formed, including a Communications Committee. Through the efforts of the Communications Committee, a theme was developed that identifies the strengths of the North Canton Community: "North Canton - A Family Place to Live, Learn, Work, And Play". The Communications Committee also made the decision to continue to use and emphasize North Canton's identity as "The Dogwood City" in its promotional campaign. The Communications Committee then proceeded to interview advertising firms, and ultimately the North Canton marketing firm of Crowl, Montgomery, and Clark was hired to design and implement the Communications Committee's ideas.
The promotional campaign includes an identifiable logo, incorporating North Canton's designation as "The Dogwood City". The dogwood blossom is the unifying element of the promotion, which is scheduled to continue to unfold during the next year.
The first element of the multi-media campaign is a full color panel located at the Akron-Canton Airport, which will greet visitors as they arrive.
A four-colored folder has been designed and produced to be used to present promotional and informational items about the North Canton Community to prospective businesses and home buyers.
Mayor Tom Rice praised the efforts of the committee saying, "This is what we have needed for a long time. It shows we are serious about promoting the City of North Canton as a business friendly community".
Promotional material will build on the theme "North Canton - A Family Place to Live, Learn, Work, And Play", emphasizing the quality of life in North Canton; its schools, parks, recreation, arts and culture, economic opportunities, traditions, and culture.
"These tools will be so helpful in helping the City reach its full potential", North Canton Director of Administration Michael Miller said. "Our community and its economic development efforts are enhanced by communicating effectively all that North Canton has to offer".
