During summer months, mosquito spraying is generally done once a month, dependent upon the mosquito population.
During 2007, spraying has been done the week of June 18, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, and on Septemer 12 and 13, and finally September 24 and 25. The mosquito population is now down and should continue to decline for this year.
When spraying is scheduled, the City does a Press Release to inform residents at least 3 to 5 days in advance through the Canton Repository, the Beacon Journal and WHBC. Spraying is usually done over a 4 day period beginning in the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and lastly the Southwest. In the event of high winds or rain, spraying is usually done the next day.
Residents can contact the Mayor's office at any time to find out if spraying is scheduled or to register any complaints of high mosquito population at (330) 499-5081. |
