CURRENTLY THE CITY'S NATURAL GAS AGGREGATION RATE IS: $10.70 mcf beginning November 1, 2008 through October, 2009
Natural Gas Aggregation is the ability of the City of North Canton to use the group buying power of its citizens to achieve a lower fixed price for natural gas for its citizens for the winter months.
North Canton Natural Gas Aggregation works through the value of a large block of consumers, through their political subdivision, joining together to lower the cost of natural gas.
CITY OF NORTH CANTON ANNOUNCES
FIXED RATE FOR NEXT NATURAL GAS AGGREGATION PROGRAM
North Canton, Ohio (September 24, 2008) – The City of North Canton is pleased to announce that it has established a fixed rate for natural gas for 12 months for members of the city’s aggregation program.Residents currently in the City’s natural gas program will pay a fixed rate of $10.70 per Mcf for all gas consumed during the period November 2008 through October 2009.IGS Energy won a competitive bid process and will replace Direct Energy as the City’s endorsed supplier for a two-year period.
Earle Wise Jr., Director of Administration said, "Residents and businesses currently in the program, or supplied by the utility company, Dominion East Ohio, do not need to take any action as they will automatically receive this rate.If residents no longer wish to be in the program they can respond to the “opt-out” notice which will be mailed to them by IGS Energy in mid-October.Residents who are served by another supplier may seek enrollment in the city’s aggregation program by calling IGS Energy at 1-800-280-4474.”
Mayor David Held reminds residents that “this program is completely voluntary. It appears to be popular with our residents, as participation rates remain very high.Residents can leave the program any time with no cancellation fee if they obtain a better rate. The Administration is pleased to offer this program to our residents as another option in their attempts to manage increasing energy costs. The $10.70/Mcf rate for our residents compares very favorably to what residents can obtain on their own at this time.”
Mark Burns, President of Independent Energy Consultants, Inc. said, “We are pleased to have designed this program for North Canton and negotiated this favorable rate. The energy commodities and virtually all commodities that had skyrocketed since the start of the year have recently given back much of those gains. We knew the commodities’ bubble had to burst at some point and decided that setting a fixed rate now was the prudent course of action.”
Doug Austin, Vice President of IGS Energy said, “We are pleased to be the city’s new supplier.
We also know this is a busy time of year for residents having to make natural gas choices.Any resident or small businesses that are currently served by other suppliers may join the City’s program by calling IGS Energy at 1-800-280-4474.You should be aware of the obligations in your existing contracts before joining as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination.”
The city is pleased to have made this program possible but asks that you do not call the city offices. They are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls.Residents should contact IGS Energy toll free at 1-800-280-4474 if they have any questions.
