In an ongoing effort to reduce the volume of waste going into landfills, the City of North Canton is again offering what was previously known as "leaf recycling" and is now known as "yard waste" recycling in 2007. Pick up for this program begins September 18, 2007 and runs through November 30, 2007. This is being done at no additional charge to residents.
All yard waste must be in paper bags. There will be a FREE Paper Bag Hand Out beginning September 10, 2007. These bags may be picked up Monday through Friday from Noon until 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the North Canton Civic Center, located at 845 W. Maple Street, North Canton, Ohio. There will be a limit of 25 bags per household. In the event a resident requires more bags, they can use regular paper grocery bags or purchase additional 30 gallon bags at Mohler Lumber, Home Depot, and Lowe's. PLEASE NOTE: If your yard waste IS NOT in a paper bag, it will go to the landfill.
This program is limited to North Canton residents only. To participate in the yard waste recycling program you simply have to put leaves into the paper bags and put them curbside on your regular trash pickup day. A separate truck will come by to pick up leaves in paper bags and recycle them.
Acceptable items are leaves, grass clippings and small branches. Please NO dirt, NO rocks, and NO pet waste.
